Shamanism and Transformation

Shamans fulfill different tasks in their communities: They divine in order to identify answers to vital questions. They heal in order to turn illness into health. They make functional as well as art objects to manifest spiritual power. They facilitate processes of change and transformation to maintain or restore individual and communal balance. As with divination and healing work, specific skills are required to support processes of transformation. In this regard, it is essential to adopt and train an attitude of non-interference: Shamanic practitioners create a powerful space and support the client so that they can do their own work. In this way, the shamanic practitioners serve the empowerment of the client.
