Dr. Siegfried Kätsch

Born in 1934. Studies of psychology, political economy and sociology. He researched and teached in Latin America for several years, after returning to Germany at the University of Bielefeld. It was there that his – first solely scientific – interest in shamanism awoke, with a focus on the Caribbean, Peru and especially Mexico. He dedicated himself to the critical reflection on ethnological literature on shamanism. In co-operation with various TV corporations he worked as a documentary filmmaker.

In the midst of an existential crisis he got hold of Paul Uccusic´s book ´Der Schamane in uns´. Shortly afterwards he began completing Basic as well as advanced workshops. In 2003 he participated in the FSS expedition to Tuva, Siberia. Faculty member of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies since 2003.

Siegfried Kätsch passed away on April 20th 2011.
