In Memoriam

Dr.in Lorenza Menegoni

Lorenza Menegoni was born in the province of Trento, northern Italy, in 1948. Having grown up in a small village near the city of Trento, she first studied at the local university. From 1979 to 1991, among other places, she lived in London and New York where she studied medical anthropology. Her research took her to Mexico, where she researched tuberculosis diseases among the Maya in Chiapas from 1987 to 1988.

One of her teachers at the New School in New York was Michael Harner, in whose shamanic workshops she also participated. After her return to Italy, Lorenza did not followed the pre-planned path as an anthropologist, but translated Michael Harner "The Way of the Shaman" into Italian.

Lorenza had been a faculty member of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies Europe since 1997. Through the translation of Michael Harner's books and her decades of teaching, she has contributed significantly to the establishment of Core Shamanism in Italy.

Lorenza Menegoni passed away on 21.03.2023.
