Mag. Roland Urban

Roland Urban was born in Linz, Austria, in 1973. His studies of psychology as well as basic, social and health sciences in Vienna and Dublin form the basis for his professional spectrum. Roland is responsible for research and development in a large socio-educational organization and works with young people at the margins of society. He also works as a self-employed health, clinical and emergency psychologist, trainer, consultant and author. Roland maintains a shamanic practice and lives with his family in Wartberg ob der Aist, Upper Austria.

His involvement with shamanism began around 1995, and practically since 2000. For this purpose, Roland undertook study trips within Europe, to the Near East and North America. Since 2013, Roland has been the executive director of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies Europe. His main research interests concern "Shamanism and Science", "Traces of European Shamanism" and "Change and Transformation".
