Dr.in Marta Niccolai

Marta Niccolai is originally from Italy, and UK resident since 1988. She has a PhD from University College London, where she teaches courses on Film and Theatre. She researches on intercultural communication, particularly in theatrical texts and productions. The other developing field of interest is the presence of shamanic principles and techniques in European contemporary theatre.

Since her early twenties, Marta has been on a spiritual path. Initially, she practiced Kundalini Yoga and meditation, traveling frequently to India, where she spent some time in a Gandhian ashram. She found her true spiritual home in shamanism. She has a keen interest in ritual, both culturally and as part of spiritual practices for healing purposes. An avid environmentalist and animal rights activist, she supports a number of organizations and is actively involved in her local community.

Marta has been a shamanic practitioner since 2007, and is Faculty member for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies Europe in the UK since 2015.
