Dr.in Lorenza Menegoni
Workshops on shamanism in Rome, Milan, Trento and Bologna
Lorenza Menegoni was born in the provence of Trient, northern Italy, in 1948. She grew up in a small village near Trient. Lorenza started her studies at the University of Trient. From 1979 to 1991 she lived, amongst others, in London and New York. In New York she studied medical anthropology. Her field studies lead her to Mexico where she researched tuberculosis among the Maya in Chiapas.
One of her teachers at the New School in New York has been Michael Harner. As student of Michael Harner she also participated in his shamanic workshops. Due to the engagement in shamanism Lorenza Menegoni did not involve herself professionally into anthropology; instead she translated Michael Harner´s book ´The way of the shaman´ into Italian and began to teach workshops for the Foundation in 1997.
Since then she has greatly expanded her FSS activities and now teaches basic and advanced workshops in Trento, Milan, Bologna, Rome, and Sicily. As part of her shamanic work, she edited the Italian translation of Michael Harner's Cave and Cosmos (Crisalide, Latina 2014). She also translated all the articles by Michael Harner and Susan Mokelke, that appear on the Italian website.
