Workshops on shamanism in Vienna

Born in 1961 in Vienna, Austria, Andreas Hirsch works there as an author, curator and photographer. His writings include books on Pablo Picasso, Tina Modotti and Friedensreich Hundertwasser. As a curator he has been responsible for retrospective exhibitions of photography including Tina Modotti, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Elliott Erwitt and Linda McCartney.

Reading the book "The Way of the Shaman" by Michael Harner and attending a basic seminar held by Paul Uccusic in 2004 brought him to the practice of Shamanism. In the following years Core Shamanism for him became the essential method in the work for healing and divination. Only through the practice of Shamanism he became able to finally integrate experiences from previous decades of his life, that had been impossible to digest and sometimes unsettling, in a productive and healing context. His view of death and dying massively changed through the shamanic experience. Becoming acquainted with the shamanic view of the world his relationship with nature changed profoundly and ecological issues gained new meaning.

Andreas J. Hirsch is currently on sabbatical.
